If Only...

Today we were thinking about how great it would have been to be Marianne Faithful, we would love to be spending our time being glamorous and hanging out with The Rolling Stones in the 1960's...

The Floating Market

We missed it whilst it was situated in Mile End but this bank holiday we made our way over to the floating market that is now situated in Little Venice. Little Venice is worth the visit alone, simply grab a coffee on the floating cafe and enjoy the european atmosphere. Unfortunately a lot of the stalls were not open, but it is still a great idea and worth a visit. The market runs until September 9th.

Gelato Gusto - Brighton

Gelato Gusto on Gardner Street has become the only place for ice-cream in Brighton, with queues out of the door daily it is worth the wait.

Highlights are the banoffee and stracciatella gelato and cocktail inspired sorbet. Also available in large boxes, perfect for sharing or picnics. Love this place!!

Letter Love - Love Letter

It has to be said, at Rose Tinted we are massive stationary fans and personalised stationary is even better. Check out these Kate Spade monogram note cards. We would give up email tomorrow if we could use these everyday.

The Alexa Effect

At Rose Tinted we are excited about the news that Alexa Chung is set to design her own fashion line. If her style is anything to go by, it should be a great line. She puts her unique spin on any designer she wears, just like matching the white shirt with this Christopher Kane dress. Fingers crossed that the line will also be affordable!
We have also been wondering what the line will be called. Our bets are on 'Alexa'.

'Make up your life'

Here at rose tinted we are big Moschino fans, so we have been excited to see the brands influence on the high street. The Moschino Cheap and Chic AW12 collection entitled 'Make up your Life' was inspired by beauty, with garments created using powder puffs and cosmetics inspired prints.  The celebrities have been wearing it but you can find your alternative at George @ Asda.

Columbia Road

It is definitely the trendiest flower market you will ever visit. You can't walk more than a few metres without seeing one of East London's trendy inhabitants. If you are stuck for something to do on a Sunday morning in London this is definitely worth visiting. Even if you don't buy any flowers, you can stop for a coffee in one of the little cafe's along Columbia Road and just enjoy the atmosphere.

I Love Mel

We cant get enough of the great little company I Love Mel. The most recent product from I Love Mel has caught on worldwide and here at Rose Tinted, we can't wait to own one ourselves. The Ryan Gosling colouring book. Hours of fun to be had.

The return of stylish drama

Here at Rose Tinted we are very excited about the return of our favourite TV shows in the Autumn. Especially the stylish, British period dramas. We are counting down the days until Downton Abbey returns to our screens. They are just about to enter the 1920's so we can expect a great wardrobe for this series. The pictures caught during filming have got us very excited. BBC's The Hour also returns to our screens this autumn. We return to the BBC news room in 1957, and yet again we can't wait for the Wardrobe, especially Dominic West's suits.

Both shows are back on our screens in September.

Beauty In Print

Ros Shiers is a London based illustrator whose drawings really capture a feeling. Having first seen her work at Spitalfields market, I only took away a beautiful card but since then I have been following her website. The 'steal a kiss' and 'love potion no. 9' prints are the perfect addition to any bedroom or bathroom, particularly for beauty fanatics and those working in the industry.

Boucle Biker

I've been searching for a boucle biker for weeks now, I found this one in the Warehouse sale for just £25.00 - it has an expensive Chanel look that I just love.

Brits That Bake - Chocolate Orange Cake

With no more Olympics and The Great British Bake Off back on the telly, its the perfect time to start baking. This is a tried and tested cake recipe - a combination of mothers advice and recipes from books. I like to think of it as a luxury Jaffa Cake. Bake and Enjoy!

Ingredients
200g caster sugar
125g butter, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
250g self raising flour
Pinch of salt
1 whole orange
100ml water
200g super dark chocolate
Recipe
1)    Preheat the oven to 180degrees
2)    Cream the butter and caster sugar together until fluffy
3)    Slowly add the egg whilst mixing
4)    Add the vanilla essence
5)    Slowly fold in the self raising flour and add a pinch of salt
6)    Add the zest of the orange
7)    Cut off the remaining rind (white bit) and finely dice the orange pulp – taking care to remove any pips
8)     Stir in the diced orange pulp and water
9)    Add 100g of the dark chocolate diced into small cubes – stir well
10) Place mixture into lined baking tin and bake for around 40 minutes
11) Remove cake and place on wire rack
12) Once the cake has cooled, melt 100g of the dark chocolate with a knob of butter and completely cover the cake
13) Grate zest on top to finish
14) Eat with a large pot of tea!!!

Saturday Brunch - Bread and Milk, Brighton

It's always nice to visit a new coffee shop. The recently opened Bread and Milk in Brighton offers good coffee, friendly staff and an environment designed to be homely and fresh. This Saturday I got a takeaway for my afternoon spree but next time I would definitely tuck into one of their stuffed pittas with choice of salads. Just one downside - they don't sell iced coffee - but hey I think this place will be extremely successful without it and I cant wait to return. Find it on Trafalgar Street, visit  http://breadandmilk.co.uk/welcome for more information.

Alphabetical

This season brings another new trend. This trend being clothes and accesories that are plastered in words and letters. Stella McCartney has embraced this new trends with a few items in her Autum/Winter 2012 collection. The below Monogram Print shirt is just one of the items in this collection. For those of us who can't quite spend £530.00 on a shirt, we are pretty sure it will not be long before the highstreet catch on.

Happy Birthday Alfred Hitchcock. He would be 113 today. We would love to have been at the cinema when Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman shared this kiss for the first time, in Hitchcock's 1946 film Notorious.

Leather Love

The Autumn/Winter 2012 season is bringing with it a lot of leather. We give our pick of three leather pieces that can compliment any wardrobe. A peplum top from Zara for those who want to combine two current trends, a leather mini from Asos for the brave, and a cost effective faux leather jacket from H&M for those who aren't quite ready to embrace the leather trend.

Upper Street Diaries

This week it is the turn of Tenshi. A small Japanese restaurant only two minutes from Angel station. The food is fantastic, and not too pricy. My favourite meal starts with a bowl of the miso soup, along side some chicken and vegetable gyoza followed by a chicken katsu curry. They also offer unlimited refills of green tea. The one thing lacking in the restaurant is the speed of service, it can be a good ten minute wait before a waiter takes your order. However, I wouldn't let it put you off as the quality of food definitely makes up for it.

If only...

Yes, we all want to be Beyonce! After a stunning appearance at the united nations last night, the lady herself has posted an enlightening collection of private shots on her Tumblr page. Seen here looking beautiful in front of the Prada Marfa, an installation by artists Elmgreen & Dragset near Valentine, Texas.
